If you are charged with a federal felony and are unable to afford to hire your own counsel, the court will appoint our office to represent you. If we are able to take your case, one of our lawyers will be assigned to represent you. You can find out more about the lawyers in our office in the “About Us” section of our website.
Sometimes, we are not able to represent you either because we have a conflict or because our caseload prevents us from devoting the time necessary to properly represent you. If that happens, you will be assigned a local attorney who serves as a member of our conflict panel of attorneys, the Criminal Justice Act panel, a “CJA lawyer.”
CJA Panel lawyers are lawyers experienced and skilled in the representation of persons charged with federal crimes. They have been screened for inclusion on the Panel. They are in private practice or members of a law firm. Many of our CJA lawyers have their own websites where you will find more information about them. You can find out more about your panel attorney their contact information in the “About Us” section of our website.
